Joe Rogan Experience Episode #1309 – NavalRavikant

“To me, peace is happiness at restand happiness is peace in motion. You can convert peace to happiness anytimeyou want.” – Naval Ravikant

An angel investor, American entrepreneur, and the founder of AngelList, to say Naval Ravikant is a brilliant thinker is simply selling him short.  In this podcast, he explores happiness, true methods of learning, the plagues of society, and even meaning of life.  I listened to and watched this podcast on YouTube multiple times and have learned something new every time.  He shares his interesting contrarian views on how close we as a society to general artificial intelligence, the effects of universal basic income, and how as a whole, “All our diseases are diseases of abundance, not diseases of scarcity.” A ton of thought-provoking concepts throughout this podcast and one that I HIGHLY recommend!

Beyond the Rut #192- Brian Dixon-How to GetUnstuck When You Start with Your People

“When we start with people first, people are ourpurpose. Serving people well, helping people get unstuck, is our purpose”. -Brian Dixon

In the past year I’ve become a big fan of the Beyond the Rut (BtR) podcast as well as the gentlemen running it--Jerry Dugan and Brandon Cunningham. I’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with these guys and their passion for what they do is infectious. Each week they host guests from a variety of industries sharing their experiences, thoughts, and methods for helping themselves, and others get out of whatever is holding them back in both their personal and professional lives. In episode #192, successful entrepreneur and business coach, Brian Dixon offers a unique perspective on finding ways to serve others as a method of increasing excitement and passion in your professional endeavors. - Scott

The Tim Ferriss Show #331 – Ann Miura-Ko- Isthat world class effort?

“The main differencewas that I was willing to outwork and outdo every competitor who walked inthrough that door.” – Ann Miura-Ko

Ann Miura-Ko, once identified as a special needschild, now called “the most powerful woman in startups” by Forbes, andco-founder of Floodgate, shares her extraordinarily inspirational story withTim on episode 331.  Growing up a shy introvert, with the encouraging words of her parents, she began competing in debate andeventually developed into a confident and powerful entrepreneur who’s invested in companies such as Lyft, Refinery29, Ayasdi, Xamarin, and many more.  In this episode she explains how putting“world-class effort” in something as menial as making copies while working apart-time job for the Dean of Engineering in college led to amazingopportunities in Silicon Valley.  Thisepisode is inspiring, powerful, and even involved “thunder lizards!”

The Art of Manliness #418- BernieRoth- How to Get Unstuck

“Our whole mindset is to learn fromyour mistakes. And that may be a better and faster way to learn, than justsitting around thinking, hoping you’re going to get it perfect.” – Bernie Roth

Sticking with the “Unstuck” theme, Art of Manliness is another great podcast that presents varying topics on personal awareness, discovery, and improvement. While the podcast is geared towards men, the topics are intriguing and educational for any listener. In episode #418, Bernie Roth, the author of The Achievement Habit, shares advice on getting unstuck and getting going again. Bernie explains the concept of “design thinking” how its principles can be used to create flourishing lives. Other great takeaways include learning to appreciate how obstacles and challenges can lead to increased learning and better outcomes, and the importance of reframing problems in order to solve them. This is an excellent episode if you’re looking for ways to reset and jumpstart your productivity and success.

Joe Rogan Experience Episode #1027 – Courtney Dauwalter

Extremely down-to-earth and humble ultramarathon runner, Courtney Dauwalter won the MOAB 240, a 238-mile race in Utah, completing it in just 58 hours.  Her amazing efforts resulted in her beating the second-place runner by more than 10 hours and over 20 miles with just 21 minutes of sleep across the two-plus days of running!  In this episode, Joe investigates how such a bubbly personality who fills up on nachos, candy, and beer can perform at such an extraordinary level. Listening to Courtney really motivated me to push my limits, although not to an ultramarathon level, and her techniques to get past the pain and lean on her support system was nothing short of inspirational.  Whether you are into running or not, this podcast will inspire you to stretch yourself.  I also highly recommend checking out her YouTube documentary, The Source.
